Andrew Tan-led property giant Megaworld is deploying its Citylink buses to provide free daily transport to healthcare personnel to and from various hospitals in Metro Manila.
In coordination with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the buses will bring healthcare workers to and from Pasig City General Hospital and Makati Medical Center, effective March 23, 2020 until April 12, 2020. The daily routes will be operational from 4:30am to 7:00pm.
“In every route, we can transport around 120 healthcare frontliners to two hospitals assigned to us. We are happy to support the government during this time when our healthcare frontliners are in need of free transport,” says Arnie Batac, head of estate management, Megaworld.
In the Visayas, Megaworld is also sending assistance to the local government units (LGUs) of Bacolod and Iloilo after both cities were also placed under community quarantine.
In Bacolod, around 1,000 liters of disinfectant alcohol will be donated to the city government for the immediate use of its various hospitals and health centers.
The company will also send 5,000 surgical masks for the use of its healthcare workers in public hospitals and barangay health centers.
Megaworld is also extending food assistance to its construction workers in its two townships, The Upper East and Northill Gateway, affected by the community quarantine declared by the city.
On the other hand, Megaworld will also donate another 1,000 liters of disinfectant alcohol to the Iloilo City Government for their local health workers deployed in various hospitals.
The company will also distribute around 3,000 food and grocery bags to various local barangays affected by the city’s Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). This also includes the families of the construction workers of the company’s Iloilo Business Park township. Construction works in the township were halted following the city government’s ECQ directive.
Both Bacolod and Iloilo cities have one confirmed COVID-19 case each.
